Bentley unveiled an updated version of its Continental GT V8 at the Frankfurt Motor Show.
The new, higher performing S model is available as either a coupe or convertible, though each is propelled by the same engine, a 4.0-liter, sorry, litre, V8. Thanks to the atmosphere-multiplying abilities of two turbochargers the powerplant cranks out 521 ponies and 502 lb-ft of torque.
A close-ratio ZF eight-speed automatic routes the engine’s prodigious output to all four wheels. It also conspires in jaw-dropping zero to 60 sprints. The coupe can accomplish the feat in just 4.3 seconds; the convertible is a half a beat slower, clocking in at 4.5 seconds. Top speed is 192 miles an hour for the two-door, 191 for the drop-top.
Other technical upgrades to the Continental GT V8 S include a lowered and retuned air-suspension system, recalibrated steering and reprogrammed electronic stability control for greater wheel slip at higher speeds. Sounds like fun to us.
In the styling department these cars gets 20-inch wheels, glossy-black radiator surrounds and special figure eight-shaped exhaust tips. Additionally, bright red brake calipers hint at their performance. Drivers can even choose from a palette of 17 different colors.
Whether it’s the coupe or convertible, delivers of the new Bentley Continental GT V8 S are expected to start early next year.
